We are excited to share the latest news and updates from Legends at the Monument!
Our summer events programme has been a great success. Recently, we hosted our first Forest Bathing event, where our guide, Jade, led the group through the wooded areas of Logie Kirk inviting us to go on a gratitude walk, connecting with the trees and notice the textures, colours and sights of our surroundings. Earlier this month, we were joined by Dan from the RSPB for a bird walk around Abbey Craig, where we observed the local bird species and their behaviours at this time of year.
Looking ahead, we have our Summer Sunset Yoga Session with Jenny from Silent Disco Stirling on the 25th of August from 7-8pm, offering stunning views of Stirling as you relax ahead of the week. Join us on August the 11th from 2-4pm for an engaging Fables, Folklore and Foraging Walk with the team from Hushwing Rangers Services .

Legends Coffee House
Our team at Legends Coffee House is ready to welcome you Monday – Sunday 10am to 6:30pm. We serve a variety of breakfast and lunch options, from hearty bacon rolls to cream cheese bagels. Our tasty, homemade soups make a great lunch choice! Be sure to pop in and check out our daily specials!
Whether you’ve scaled the heights of the Wallace Monument or looking for a cozy rendezvous with family and friends, Legends Coffee House offers the perfect spot by the beautiful Abbey Craig.

This July, we were thrilled to support Start Up Stirling with our product of the month! With every purchase of Braveheart Bear, we donated £1 to Start Up Stirling. Since 1994, Start Up Stirling has been dedicated to relieving poverty, suffering, and distress for people in crisis across the Stirling Council area. The charity relies on the local community to deliver its services.

25th August, Sunset Yoga with Jenny 7-8pm
Join Jenny from Silent Disco Stirling in a unique one-off yoga session enjoying the views from the Abbey Craig. Enjoy a walk up through the woodland paths for a 45-minute yoga session. All abilities welcomed.
5th September, Bat Walk around Stirling University 7-30-9pm
Learn about the resident bats in the grounds of the University of Stirling, and hopefully see some of them in action in the shadow of the National Wallace Monument!
11th September, Stirling Bridge Walk, Murray Cook
Commemorating the Battle of Stirling Bridge on 11th September, 1297. Led by archaeologist Dr Murray Cook, this guided walk explores the key historical events and locations of the battle.
15th September, Old town cemetery walk with Dr Murray Cook 2-3:30pm
Join Dr Murray Cook on a guided walk exploring Stirling’s Old Cemetery, the resting place of some remarkable characters, the site of some incredible graves and recently featured in Season 2 of Good Omens!
19th September, Bushcraft Workshop with Judi and Dani 6:30-8:30
Come along at Legends at the Monument connect with nature through crafts, learn how to use tools and protect natural resources. Led by Judi and Dani qualified forest school practitioners from Stirling.
20th September, Paint Evening ‘Stirling Bridge’ with Fiona McKenzie van Baardwijk 7-9:30pm
On the 727th anniversary of the Battle of Stirling Bridge, join local artist Fiona for a guided painting session of Stirling Bridge at Legends at the Monument! Relax ahead of the weekend and bring out your creative side!
26th September, Geology of Stirling Lecture Katie Strang 7-8pm
Join Dr Katie Strang for an evening lecture at Legends at the Monument on the incredible geology of Stirling. Enjoy complimentary coffee/tea and biscuits while you enjoy the discussion.
Updates for Stirling
We are excited to remind you about the Stirling Sightseer hop-on hop-off bus tour, which is running every hour, every day until September 2024 in celebration of the Royal Burgh’s 900th anniversary. The tour begins on Goosecroft Road, opposite Stirling rail station, and offers full commentary on board. Tickets are available on board or through the Midland Bluebird app.
The tour includes stops at the National Wallace Monument, Legends at the Monuments Coffeehouse and Gift shop can be found at the foot of the monument besides the car park.
Make the most of your visit to Stirling and visit our (little) sister cafe at Legends at Cowanes Coffee Hatch situated opposite the Church of the Holy Rude, serving delicious sandwiches, toasties and soup and not forgetting their selection of coffee and cake deals! Open Monday – Sunday 10am – 4pm. Inside seating is available within the Guild Halls of Cowanes Hospital and outside seating is available on the terrace overlooking the Church of the Holy Rude. Remember to use your Hop-on Hop-off bus ticket for a 10% discount at the Coffee Hatch!
Welcome, Iain Dupount (SDT)
Stirling District Tourism are pleased to welcome Iain Dupount as Operations Manager. He will be overseeing the operations at the Church of the Holy Rude, Legends at Cowanes and Legends at the Monument.
Iain Doupount, Operations Manager (SDT)
Born and raised in Stirling, Iain has over a decade of experience in tourism and heritage, having worked across various sites in central and southern Scotland. As Operations Manager Iain is responsible for the day-to-day running of Legends at the Monument, as well as managing the team at the Church of the Holyrood, and the catering team at Cowane’s Hospital. Iain is focused on helping the teams at Legends, Church of the Holyrood, Cowane’s continue to deliver excellent visitor experiences, alongside growing links with local community groups and heritage sites.
A Charity with a Mission
SDT, an independent charity, helps to preserve and promote Stirling’s rich history by managing Legends at the Monument, Legends at Cowanes Coffee Hatch as well as the Church of the Holy Rude and runs heritage themed events throughout the year in the greater Stirling area. Your support by visiting the church or supporting via donations allows us to keep the doors open and to celebrate the vast history within these walls.
